Torino striker Maxi Lopez has dedicated the Granata’s shock 1–0 win against Inter on Sunday afternoon to his son.

The 30-year-old expected a different performance from the Nerazzurri but he praised the efforts of his Torino teammates after grabbing the surprise win thanks to Emiliano Moretti’s header in stoppage time.

“Grit, concentration and ‘Toro heart’, these were the ingredients of today’s game,” Lopez told ITA Sport Press.

“We wanted to win and we have succeeded. I expected a different Inter, I am happy with the result also because I had promised my son a victory.”

Lopez’s children currently live with his ex-wife Wanda Nara as well as Inter striker Mauro Icardi, whom she married in May 2014.

It was Lopez who had the last laugh on Sunday however, when he assisted in Moretti’s goal after beating Icardi in an aerial dual at the near-post on a corner kick.

The Argentine now has a goal and an assist after playing two Serie A matches for Torino.
