Verde left trembling by his Roma debut

Roma debutant Daniele Verde has admitted to to feeling overwhelming emotions upon learning he would make his Giallorossi debut against Palermo.

He came on as a second half substitute for Juan Manuel Iturbe in their 1-1 draw at the Renzo Barbera, playing the final 20 minutes as Rudi Garcia showed continued faith in his club’s youth players.

“When Garcia called me, I began to tremble,” he told the club’s TV channel. “But I knew that I had to show courage when I came on and entered the field.

“I could not pull back, you cannot be intimidated. I dedicate this debut to my family, all of the people who love me and my girlfriend. I thank the coach for the trust he has shown in me and I hope to repay him.”

The 18-year-old, who wears shirt number 53, and earned his spot in the side thanks to an excellent start to the season both domestically and in the UEFA Youth League when the attacker displayed a ruthless streak in front of goal.
