Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has suggested that goal-line technology should be introduced after Michel Morganella’s shot was not adjudged to be a goal against Sampdoria.

Zamparini saw Morganella’s shot cross the line in the 1-1 draw against the Blucerchiati but he did not accuse the assistant referee of blatantly ruling against the Rosanero.

“It was an unfortunate hit. Probably we saw it better from the stand than from the ground,” Zamparini told stadionews.it.

“This demonstrates that it serves to have a technological medium [because] the human eye makes mistakes. The assistant did not do it on purpose. It was inside by 20 centimetres, probably he was inattentive.

“We have 40 judges that will cost in total €1.6 million [and] for three years they cost €4.8m. With this money we put it in goal-line technology [and] it is stupid not to do it.

“I make an appeal to the [FIGC] president [Carlo Tavecchio] to do it immediately, us clubs are ready.”
