Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has confirmed AC Milan are currently talking with Rosanero defender Ezequiel Munoz.

The 24-year-old has been in impressive form in Serie A this season, but with his contract set to expire in June, the club could be convinced to part company with the Argentine during the January transfer window. Zamparini does not want to risk losing the former Boca Juniors player for nothing during the summer.

“There’s been an intervention from Milan. They’re dealing with my sporting director (Franco Ceravolo). I can confirm that Milan have come in on this deal,” Zamparini said when speaking to MilanNews.it.

“Munoz hasn’t signed a renewal, and we are now focused on other players.

“He’s a player who cost me €6.5 million when he was 20 years old, and I don’t intend to just give him away.”

Munoz has been linked with a number of Serie A clubs in the past, including Roma, Juventus and Inter. The commanding centre halve has amassed 120 appearances for Palermo since joining in August 2010, helping the club gain promotion back to Serie A last season.
