Duje Cop - Cagliari v SassuoloCagliari coach Gianfranco Zola believes Duje Cop has immense talent and everyone at the club have been pleasantly surprised by his progress.

Cop was the hero against Sassuolo as he scored his first Serie A goal which was the decisive goal in the 2-1 victory on Saturday evening.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia after the game, Zola said, “We did pretty well today but there is still room to grow… And we will grow.

“Right now it is critical that our offence functions and all attackers are contributing to to results, so we are calm and we hope to continue like this.”

“There is so much heart in my team, the organization will follow with time, and today it was important to win, and after conceding the equaliser, it was not easy to take the lead immediately. Congratulations to [Sassuolo coach Eusebio] Di Francesco for what he is doing.

“As for the transfer market, Gilardino is a big player but however I wish he was headed to Cagliari.

“We have Longo, who is doing well, and we found Cop, who we all loved and admired from day one; him scoring today was down to talent and hard work, not just random luck.

“I do not know if you want to talk to us about [Leonardo] Pavoletti. I must say we have players that deserve our attention, Sau will be back soon, Cop has been a great addition and I have immense confidence in Longo. So we need to evaluate what to do.”

The former West Ham United and Watford manager has managed to earn seven points from the last three games and has achieved back-to-back wins, he will be hoping the Rossoblu carry on the momentum when they visit Atalanta next Saturday.
