Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has been scrutinised on social media after defending racist remarks made by his former AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi.

Sacchi said earlier this week that there were too many coloured players in the youth systems of Italian clubs and Ancelotti stood-up for his old mentor by using the Benito Mussolini quote, “Many enemies, much honour.”

Ancelotti has been condemned on Twitter for his comments, with one tweet saying that “it seems to be a joke but it is all true” and another one had said that “after the racist blow of Sacchi, here is the excellent fascist cherry [on the cake]”.

The current Real Madrid coach played under Sacchi at AC Milan for four seasons from 1987-91 and he played one more season for the Rossoneri under Fabio Capello in 1991-92.
