Rafael Benitez NapoliNapoli coach Rafa Benitez is refusing to become complacent over his side’s chances of Europa League progression against Trabzonspor.

The Partenopei hold a commanding 4-0 advantage over their Turkish opponents after the first leg and are expected to sail through into the next round at the Stadio San Paolo on Thursday evening.

“We should not think of Torino [on Sunday], but instead concentrate on the game tomorrow,” said Benitez at Wednesday’s pre-match press conference.

“The advantage is there, but we must take the game seriously, and only then can we think about the league.

“Football is strange, and we have to be really focused tomorrow.”

Benitez also discussed the heightening level of competition for places within his team as the campaign enters a critical phase.

“I believe that the squad has shown its strength, but I am convinced we still have room for improvement,” insisted Benitez.

“The players must continue doing well. There is good competition between them on the wing, in attack, in midfield.

“This increases their desire to win and also the desire to demonstrate their qualities out on the field, and there is scope to do even better.”
