Bologna’s offer of €1 entry for ‘partners’ of supporters on Valentine’s Day is being seen as a step forward in overcoming homophobic discrimination.

The initiative, on Twitter as #allostadioconchiami, is for Rossoblu season ticket holders that can bring along their partner to the game for the nominal fee of a euro on pre-sale for Bologna’s home match with Ternana on Saturday 14th February.

The deal has been praised by LGBT groups, who believe that no clear distinction of gender in the statement on Bologna’s official website means the club are encouraging any couple – straight or gay – to attend the Serie B fixture at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

The corrieredibologna.corriere.it are reporting that an association of LGBT groups (including Arcigay and Indie Pride) have said the language of the offer was a signal of inclusion, one which would help harmonize the stadium and the city.

Bologna were relegated from Serie A last season but have only lost once in their last 11 league matches to sit second in Serie B as they fight for promotion to the top flight.
