Zdenek Zeman is being linked with a sensational return to the Cagliari bench a mere two months after he was sacked from the coaching position at the Sardinian club.

The Czech legend was fired by president Tommaso Giulini and replaced by Gianfranco Zola just before Christmas after recording only two victories in 16 league fixtures.

However, Zola has failed to improve the situation with the Rossoblu having recorded only one point in their last four games which sees the club currently languishing in 18th place in the table, the same position they were in when the former Chelsea forward took over from Zeman.

L’Unione Sarda understands that a defeat against Hellas Verona on Sunday will mean the end of Zola’s time in charge at the Stadio Sant’Elia. Furthermore, the newspaper believes that Zeman is Giulini’s first choice to take over at the club should Zola lose his job.

The 67-year-old is the quintessential journeyman coach having been in charge of 20 teams since the early 1980s.
