Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini believes that the Old Lady’s draw with Udinese on Sunday was a fair result and insists that the league leaders will never underestimate one of their opponents.

The reigning Serie A champions held the Zebrette to a goalless draw at the Friuli and the 30-year-old admits that while Massimiliano Allegri’s men always knew the hosts would be tough to overcome in their home stadium, he’s still disappointed that the Turin giants couldn’t widen the gap between them and second place Roma on the league table, which remains at seven points.

Chiellini spoke to JTV after the draw about his side’s performance and revealed that Juventus will continue to focus on winning at all times despite this minor setback.

“We knew that it would be a tough a game and that we would suffer, Udinese are a tough opponent at home,” said the Italian international.

“The team had gotten a lot wrong in the first half hour or so and then we were able to settle ourselves. It was great for Gianluigi Buffon to make saves on multiple occasions when we had to straighten up the defence.

“Our side created chances and could have even taken the lead in a few situations. We suffered a lot with lost balls, but then we did well to start playing the ball without forcing passes.

“We wanted to stretch our lead over Roma in the standings and I’m very sorry that we couldn’t, but the season is still long,

“This result was the fairest one, we had not underestimated our opponent upon taking the field. Our goal is always to win, we could have done better but then there is always the will of the opponent to take into consideration.”
