Dnipro’s much sought after midfielder Yehvan Konoplyanka has admitted that he turned down the opportunity to join Roma as he wants to play in the English Premier League.

The Giallorossi had agreed a deal with the Ukrainian outfit to bring the winger to Serie A, and then disappointingly for the club, the player rebuffed Roma’s approach.

“Yes, Roma were interested in me, and I rejected them,” he explained on Dnipro’s official Youtube channel.

“Perhaps they will be disappointed, but that is life and this is football, some players agree to move and others do not.

“The clubs had an agreement, last time it was the opposite with Liverpool.

“I wanted to go there but the clubs did not agree [on a fee].

“As a child my goal was to play in England, it is one of the strongest leagues and I want to play there.”
