Parma head coach Roberto Donadoni has emphasized that his players gave it all they had despite losing 3-1 to the hands of AC Milan Sunday evening.

Both teams entered the match hopeful of a victory to lessen the pressure of their respective ‘crises,’ but the Ducali were downed by a double from Jeremy Menez and another goal from former employee Cristian Zaccardo, even though former Milan player Antonio Nocerino had leveled the game at 1-1.

“We had some good chances in the first half,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia. “However, we were made to pay with a penalty.

“We were able to get ourselves back in the match, but were unable to take advantage of our chances,” he continued.

“In the second half, we conceded two goals naively. However, many of my players were too tired.

“The amount of dignity I saw from my players on the field? I would say 100%.

“[Gabriel] Paletta? I was told to keep him on the bench. That’s the only reason he didn’t play today, otherwise he would have.”

He then continued on to the Ducali’s mercato.

“The transfer market will close tomorrow. There are deadlines in February to pay salaries, so everyone will do what’s best for the club.”

Lastly, he touched on the team’s woeful season thus far and warned that hard work is the only way to avoid relegation.

“We will do our best, and we will sacrifice more and work harder this week, but there is no other way out.”
