Bayer Leverkuson fullback Giulio Donati says that his former teammate Davide Santon made the right choice to return to Inter last month.
The two came up through the Nerazzurri youth system together, and both went their separate ways after finding first-team opportunities limited at the Serie A giants.
Santon has since completed a move back to the club last month from Newcastle United, while Donati has declared that he would be open to a return to the peninsula in the future.
“I think Santon was right to return to Italy. He had an opportunity, and he took advantage of it after his experience abroad,” Donati told Il Tirreno.
“Will I return? Who knows. For now, I am happy in Germany, and I have picked up the language pretty well.
“Life is good here. I am settled, it’s quiet, and there’s not that pressure that you find in Italian football.”
Donati has struggled for first-team football this season, losing his place to ex-Roma defender Tin Jedvaj, and has only made six appearances in the Bundesliga.
