Roma boss Rudi Garcia believes that his team have an advantage after drawing Fiorentina as their opponent for the Europa League round of 16.

The two Serie A sides will be playing their first leg in Florence on March 12 and the Giallorossi tactician feels that having the second leg in Rome on March 19 will give them the upper hand, while he also points out that the capital city club already know their opponents well and won’t have to travel far.

Garcia spoke to Roma Radio on Friday about the Europa League draw results and commented on the positives of playing against a fellow Italian team.

“Our drawing of Fiorentina? It’s a result that has little to do with Europe,” said the 51-year-old.

“The benefits? These two teams know each other well and neither of us will have to make long trips for matches.

“Our main advantage is that we get to play the return leg at home, even though we were able to demonstrate that we can also play and win on the road yesterday against Feyenoord.”
