Genoa CFC v AC Milan - Serie AGenoa president Enrico Preziosi regards Alberto Costa as the club’s ‘best acquisition’ last month, while stating that Marco Borriello needs time to regain form.

The Grifone lost a number of key players last month including Alessandro Matri, Stefano Sturaro (both Juventus) and captain Luca Antonelli, who went to AC Milan.

To compensate, the club brought in Mbaye Niang in return, prodigal son Borriello from Roma, and play-maker Costa from Spartak Moscow, plus a number of others.

“We talk about revolutions. But I don’t see this as a revolution, as out of the players we actually owned; only Antonelli departed,” Preziosi defiantly told Pianetagenoa1893.net.

“Our best buy was [Tino] Costa. But we can’t take risks with him, as players who haven’t played for a while, need different training programs.

“It’s like Borriello, who really wants to play, must bide his time. He will be useful once he is properly fit.

“When will he return? I’m not sure if he will be ready for the derby. This will not be the match of the year where everyone goes crazy. We’ll only choose who’s fit and available.”
