Hamsik + Zapata - NapoliNapoli captain Marek Hamsik has insisted that his team will continue battling Roma for second place until the end of the season.

The Partenopei now sit just three points behind the struggling Giallorossi after securing a comfortable 2-0 win over Sassuolo on Monday and the 27-year-old, who netted an impressive goal for the Neapolitans against the Neroverdi, fully believes in the San Paolo outfit’s chances of earning the number two spot this year, though he understands that the campaign is still long and tough.

Hamsik spoke through his official website Marek-Hamsik.sk on Tuesday about the fight for second place and commented on Napoli’s upcoming Serie A clash with Torino on Sunday.

“Before the game we had been aware that a victory would put us very close to second place,” said the Slovakian international.

“We took the field for the win and achieved our objective. Of course I’m happy for my goal, but the most important thing is that Napoli achieved success.

“Roma? There is still a lot of time until the end of the season, it will be a good battle for second place.

“First, however, we must focus on the next difficult challenge against Torino.”
