AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi insists the Rossoneri must defeat Chievo in Saturday’s Serie A encounter to get their season back on track.

The Rossoneri travel to 16th placed Chievo with just one win from their last three matches, and will need to build on last week’s victory over Cesena if they wish to climb up the league table- where they currently sit in 11th.

“We need continuity with our performances, so while Chievo must be respected, we know that we are Milan and we have to win,” he stated at his pre-match press conference.

“Serie A is very balanced this year, and matches with the ‘small’ clubs are getting tougher. A trip to Verona is not easy but we are in the ideal state of mind to do well and take three points home with us.

January signing Alessio Cerci is expected to be in the squad, but having made four of his seven appearances from the bench for the Duvali, the Italian winger has voiced his discomfort about the situation he faces in Milan.

“[Cerci] only got five minutes last week and I told him that the final substitution could not be made too soon. He asked me to explain the situation but I felt he had a positive attitude when he was on the pitch.

Milan beat the Gialloblu 2-0 at the San Siro in October, but a reversal of fortunes for the out-of-sorts Rossoneri could see them drop nine points off the Europa League spots.

“We have to be careful, they are well drilled under [Rolando] Maran and are unpredictable.”
