AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi insisted there is no chance of him walking out on the Rossoneri despite their current struggles assuring that he has the full backing of president Silvio Berluscoini and vice-president Adriano Galliani.

Ahead of their clash with Cesena on Sunday the 41-year-old stated that the board understand the current problems he faced with a squad depleted by injuries and suspensions but will eventually turn things around at San Siro.

“There is no way [I am leaving], I have a contract and I know what is expected from the leaders and supporters,” he said.

“I will continue, then we’ll see what happens.

“I feel the trust from Berlusconi and Galliani every day; I heard from the president yesterday, as he could not come to greet us.

“They too have realised that mistakes penalised us, but when they go I hope to give joy to our president; in these moments he reassures me a lot and I thank him for that.

“Cesena are in their best moment of the season, but we are calm because we play at the San Siro and we are ready.”

Inzaghi then went on to state that he wants to see the team perform like they do in training.

“I hope to see [performances] on the pitch as I see them in a week at Milanello,” he said. “Playing at San Siro when things go wrong is not easy, but we must perform well.

“I do not know where rumours about [Jeremy] Menez’s exclusion come from, I just hope to see will and spirit of sacrifice then I will choose the players that I consider ideal for the match.

“I am only sorry that critics do not focus on the technical aspect, I’m bored of all the criticism.

“I do not want to hear about players who do not train well, I invite you to come to Milanello during the week because I have professionals who on a daily basis do their work in the best way.

“I read things about [Riccardo] Montolivo that I did not like, he returned after seven months, others would have taken a year and a half; he has sacrificed himself.

“My aim is to restore a beautiful identity to this team, and we had it until injuries began penalising the squad, constantly changing is really difficult but I hope that starting tomorrow we can witness this identity once more.

“With a 90-95% fit squad we were third in the standings, now we have many injuries, I would not have changed anything, but unfortunately with suspensions and injuries I had to make different choices and we have lost our identity.

“When you lose a lot of players it is difficult to talk about the team.

“In my opinion we have to start winning, even the games when we do not play well, it serves to make the leap in the right direction.”
