Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp was disappointed with two defensive mistakes that ultimately cost his side in their 2-1 defeat against Juventus.

Goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller was guilty of spilling a cross for Juventus’ opening goal, while the second blow arrived when Alvaro Morata was left entirely unmarked in the box.

“We played better in the first half,” said Klopp when speaking with Sky Italia in the aftermath of their 2-1 first-leg loss.

“We had a good plan to put pressure on the ball carrier. We wanted to put pressure on [Leonardo] Bonucci and [Giorgio] Chiellini and there were positive moments in the first half.

“But we gave away two goals to Juventus which is a big problem.

“In the first half we deserved more. In the second, Juventus were better and perhaps deserved a bit more themselves.

“We still have to win to make it through.”

Meanwhile, long-serving boss Klopp wasn’t happy with the refereeing at times.

“I didn’t like some of the decisions by the referee, such as an elbow by [Paul] Pogba,” explained the 47-year-old.

“We also had to make a few changes which affected us.

“We must make good use of our supporters in the return match.

“This is only one defeat against Juventus over two games, so we’ll see what we end up with.”
