Lazio starlet Felipe Anderson has revealed he is delighted to be back training with his teammates, after returning from a knee injury in early February.

The 21-year-old sprained his left knee during a training session with the Biancocelesti in January which ruled the Brazilian out for three weeks.

Speaking in a candid interview with Brazilian website placar.abril.com.br, Anderson admitted it was frustrating to sustain the injury while enduring such a rich vein of form, where he scored five goals and garnered four assists in five Serie A matches.

“An injury is always something unexpected and it was annoying it occurred during a golden period for me,” Anderson said.

“But fortunately it was nothing serious and I am back training. I am sure I will return to my good form, I just need two to three games to find my pace and intensity.

The Brazilian also explained why he struggled to adapt to playing Italian football in his first season with the club, following his move from Brazilian side Santos in 2013.

“It was hard to adjust to playing a new style of football. To understand Italian football you need time,” Anderson continued.

“It is very different from playing in Brazil. At the beginning of last season I was coming off an injury where I spent four months away from the field.

“I talked with the coach [Stefano Pioli] and other experienced players in the team, like [Miroslav] Klose, [Lucas] Biglia and captain [Stefano] Mauri and they gave me lots of advice.”
