Lazio veterans Stefano Mauri and Miroslav Klose look set to be offered new contracts to keep them at the club.

Both players are out of contract at the end of this season but have been big parts of the Biancocelesti team that currently sits fifth in Serie A, and are likely to be offered the opportunity to stay.

Corriere della Sera reports that captain Mauri is in discussions over a new one-year deal with the option of an extension of another year on top of that.

German striker Klose has already made triggered the offer of a new deal by featuring in more than 20 games this season for the Aquile, but there are suggestions that he may consider a return to his old club Kaiserslautern should they gain promotion back to the Bundesliga this season.

The 36-year-old has scored seven goals in 23 appearances in all competitions for Lazio this campaign and has been with the club since 2011, but he previously scored 44 goals for the Kaiserslautern first-team between 1999 and 2004.

Mauri moved to the Stadio Olimpico from Udinese in 2006, and the 35-year-old is the club’s joint top scorer in Serie A this season alongside Filip Djordjevic with seven league goals.
