Parma captain Alessandro Lucarelli has revealed that the Ducali will not be able to play their scheduled match with Genoa on Sunday.

Gialloblu president Giampietro Manenti had previously stated that plans were already in motion to make sure that the troubled team would find its way to Genoa as planned, though reports from ANSA now show that a secret meeting was held between coach Roberto Donadoni, Alessandro Lucarelli, Massimo Gobbi and the city of Parma’s public prosecutor on Friday to discuss a possible postponement of the match due to the lack of funds needed to make the trip.

Lucarelli spoke to the press outside of the Collecchio training ground on Friday about Parma’s inability to face the Grifone and confirmed that the club has no choice but to seek another postponement.

“We will not be playing in Genoa on Sunday,” said the 37-year-old. “We had asked that the game be postponed for a later date.”

This is the second consecutive match week that the Crociati will be unable to take part in their scheduled Serie A game, as they were also forced to back out of their clash with Udinese on February 22.
