Mancini InterAfter losing 1-0 to Napoli and being kicked out of the Coppa Italia, Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini feels his side played a good match but were too soft when they conceded the late goal.

Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain found the back of the net late in the 90th minute mark of the match, helping the Azzurri move on to the semi-finals of the tournament against Lazio.

“I do not know how to comment on the game, you can not concede a goal like that. We played a good game against a very good Napoli side, but to win we need to score.” said the 50-year-old to Rai Sport.

“Losing like this hurts and we were chickens [meaning idiots]. We were too soft and to concede a goal like that is absurd. We made mistakes just as we did in the league against Sassuolo [on Sunday]. We made a great effort to score though.

“Higuain is an experienced player and very clever. He knew immediately that there would be an opportunity to hurt us.”

Mancini then commented on how another opportunity for the Nerazzurri to make the Europa League was wasted.

“We now only have one opportunity [to win a trophy – the Europa League], but we will do everything we can and hopefully we can turn it around in Serie A.”
