Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has said that he apologised to left-back Vasco Regini after he had an outburst at him after the Derby della Lanterna.

The Blucerchiati drew 1-1 with Genoa on Tuesday night but Mihajlovic was furious with Regini after he gave M’Baye Niang too much space on the Grifone’s right-wing to cross for goal-scorer Iago Falque.

“Let’s make things clear: I did not get the neck of Regini,” Mihajlovic told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “I only got his jersey to lean my hands on his chest to shout at him that certain errors are unacceptable.

“The referee after this action whistled for the end of the game and he came to me then spontaneously going quickly to him. In other occasions that scene would not have happened. I would have had the time to calm myself down and I would have spoken to him in the locker room.

“I have already said it and I repeat it again: I apologise for that public outburst and I have already apologised to the boy. It all finished there.”
