Roma star Radja Nainggolan has labelled Feyenoord fans as ‘ignorant’ in the aftermath of the two club’s tumultuous Europa League tie.
The Giallorossi eventually went through 3-2 on aggregate, but the tie was marred by the behavior of the Feyenoord fans during both legs.
Feyenoord fans rioted with police in Rome during the first leg, and then play was suspended for 10 minutes in the second leg at the De Kuip after a plastic banana was thrown at Roma forward Gervinho.
Nainggolan expressed his outrage on Twitter, labelling the fans as ‘ignorant’ while also stating that racism has no place in football.
“To have five coloured players in the team, to then throw a banana at an opposition player! Sheer ignorance. #notoracism Only ignorance,” Nainggolan wrote on his official account.
