Parma’s Alessandro Lucarelli has admitted he has been disappointed with the level of support from other Serie A players during the club’s financial struggles.

The club captain, 37, revealed he has received just one phone call from a fellow professional to offer his sympathies with the situation Lucarelli and his teammates are currently mired in.

“The only colleague who called me was Morgan De Sanctis to ask what was happening with our situation and express solidarity. In fact, another did call me but the only person who showed up was Morgan,” he toldĀ Tele Radio Stereo.

“We should all understand that in Italian football, the way things are, something like this could happen to anyone.”

Lucarelli also called upon those in power to stand by the Crociati, saying: “We hope that we can finish the league but we will be watching how the football authorities deal with the situation.

“We are acting in a serious way and we would like the football world to do the same.”
