Player Ratings: AC Milan 3-1 Parma

AC Milan defated Parma 3-1 on Sunday night at the San Siro.

The Rossoneri took the lead with a Jeremy Menez penalty before Antonio Nocerino made it 1-1. Menez scored another goal in the second half, before Cristian Zaccardo added one of his own to take the score to 3-1.

AC Milan

Diego Lopez – 7 – Star

As always, the former Real Madrid shot stopper proved his worth with a great display. Managed to keep his calm in all of Parma’s attempts, and kept his focus throughout the game.

Cristian Zaccardo – 7 – Midas

Scored the Rossoneri’s third goal, his play led to Milan’s penalty, and scored a goal that wasn’t given. In short, the 2006 FIFA World Cup winner was able to produce a great display for Il Diavolo where he was solid defensively and contributed offensively.

Adil Rami – 5.5 – Unaware

Yet again the Frenchman showed unawareness inside the Milan penalty area and could’ve cost his side on more then one occasion.

Alex – 6 – Solid

Captained the Rossoneri on the night, and should’ve celebrated the night with the goal hadn’t it been for the post; overall, solid performance from the Brazilian at the back.

Salvatore Bocchetti – 5.5 – Abysmal

Extremely poor display from the debutant – often lost his marker in set pieces and looked rusty, could’ve cost his side on several occasions on the night.

Alessio Cerci – 7 – Active

Pretty much made the second goal with a darting run down the right-hand side; caused all sorts of trouble to the Parma defence with his trickery and composure.

Andrea Poli – 5.5 – Nonexistent

Failed to make an impact on the game bar the mistake that led to Parma’s only goal; continuing from the level he’s been playing at for the past weeks.

Marco van Ginkel – 5.5 – AWOL

Just like his midfield partner, the Dutchman was nonexistent for large parts of the game before eventually being taken off by Inzaghi. Booed by his own fans when he left the field.

Keisuke Honda – 5.5 – Anonymous

Another anonymous player in Milan’s ranks, failed to make an impact whatsoever on the game.

Jeremy Menez – 7.5 – Sublime

Excellent display from the former Paris Saint-Germain man who grabbed two goals and an assist on the night, thoroughly deserved following his performances in recent weeks.

Mattia Destro – 6 – OK

A real target man to the Milan players and could’ve even grabbed a goal on his debut; however, picked up an avoidable booking which will make him miss the game against Juventus.

Substitutes

Michael Essien – 6 -Improvement

Did lose possession on some occasions, but nevertheless put in a good shift in midfield.

Sulley Muntari – N/A

Giampaolo Pazzini – N/A

Parma

Antonio Mirante – 6.5 – Good

Once again a solid performance from the former Juventus goalkeeper; not at fault for any of the goals conceded and managed to deny Milan on many occasions.

Fabiano Santacroce – 6 – Solid

Put in a tough performance down the right-hand side and even managed to put a halt to most of Cerci’s endeavours; solid.

Alessandro Lucarelli – 6 – Average

Good performance in the centre of defence, but succumbed to Milan’s attacking onslaught towards the end.

Andrea Costa – 6 – Alright

Just like his defensive partner, the former Sampdoria man was alright but the Rossoneri’s offence hurt them towards the end.

Daniele Galloppa – 6 – Not bad

Alright in defence, but didn’t attack enough against a weak Milan defence, could’ve caused far more trouble.

Massimo Gobbi – 6 – Tried

The only times when he was able to have the ball at his feet, he showed his ability of picking players out; nevertheless, put in a good performance in midfield, managing to affect Milan’s play in the first half.

Antonio Nocerino – 6 – Gritty

Scored his side’s only goal with an excellent follow-up, putting in a tireless shift in midfield; could’ve had another goal on the night hadn’t it been for a poor finish.

McDonald Mariga – 5.5 – Poor

Composed figure in Parma’s midfield, moving possession around on many occasions, replaced by Jose Mauri.

Silvestre Varela – 6 – Semi-adventurous

The new signing looked good, but did nothing significant on the night; however, he looks like a good addition to the Parma ranks.

Raffele Palladino – 6.5 – Adventurous

Caused the Rossoneri real trouble especially in the first half; only one of the Parma attack to fully attack Milan’s fragile defence.

Cristian Rodriguez – 6 – Showed potential

Another new signing in Roberto Donadoni’s setup, showed potential on the night, and was fairly active.

Substitutes

Andrea Rispoli – 6 – Advanced

Provided an attacking spark, as opposed to the defensive Santacroce, but came short against Milan’s improved second half defence.
