AC Milan midfielder Andrea Poli believes the Rossoneri can still finish in Serie A’s European spots after their 0-0 draw with Chievo.

Milan sit ninth in the league table, and are five points behind Fiorentina in fifth, after Saturday’s draw which saw both teams unable to finish good chances – with hosts Nigel De Jong and Ricardo Montolivo coming off injured during the stalemate.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia after the final whistle, the Italian said: “We are disappointed because we wanted to win. It was tough because we had to re-organise the team from the injuries – which has haunted us this season.

“But there are still many games left and I think we can [reach Europe] with our large, determined group.”

While a clean sheet is welcome, it is clear that the Diavolo are struggling in attack – with just three goals in three game against lower-half opponents.

“I think we played a good game, but have to create more chances and play with more speed.

“We knew Chievo would come out fighting and they closed us down well, but there is now more importance on next week’s game [at home to Hellas Verona], and we still have 13 matches left to play, they are all finals.”
