The reconstruction of Torino’s former home ground, the Stadio Filadelfia, is expected to commence in the autumn of this year.

Torino played at the Filadelfia from 1926 until 1963 and then it was used for training sessions, but the ground has fallen into disarray in recent decades.

According to Tuttosport, a third public meeting was held on Wednesday to determine which construction firms will be in the running to rebuild the iconic arena and there are currently five companies left in contention.

A final public meeting will take place in about 45 days time to determine who will get the contract. In the final meeting, the contenders will be assessed on their ranking, the time it will take to achieve their accomplishments and the economic aspects of the stadium construction.

Once a decision is made in mid-April, construction on the Stadio Filadelfia will start and it is expected to be inaugurated in October 2016.
