Roma president James Pallotta believes that club can achieve great success in the future and feels that injuries to several players this season has been highly detrimental.

The Giallorossi, who are sitting second in the Serie A table on 48 points entertain league leaders Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico on Monday night with the title race already put to bed.

“I think it will not be a match for revenge. There were errors in the first leg that can happen.” said the American to Roma Radio.

“I was present in Turin and we could easily have won that game. We are at their height and I think that if we play as we know, it will be a very open match.”

Pallotta then made a hypothesis that if the Old Lady had been without players like Andrea Pirlo and Paul Pogba, they would have found themselves in second place in the league table.

“We had serious injuries to [Kevin] Strootman and [Leandro] Castan and many more for more than 4-5 weeks. If Juventus were devoid of players like Pirlo or Pogba they would be in our situation.”

The 56-year-old then reflected on his side’s crucial 2-1 win against Feyenoord at Rotterdam during midweek and also firmly insisted that the players pick momentum from here on.

“The team played an excellent game curbing some complicated situations. Now we think of Fiorentina next and we need to follow up the victory in Rotterdam against Juventus,” he continued.

“It was good to raise our head in an environment like that of Rotterdam. We got a lot of draws but the team is firmly in second place and we are doing things in the right perspective.”

When asked about the recent developments and current status of the new stadium for Roma, Pallotta divulged some details.

“Everything is going fine and fast. The relationship with the companies who will carry out the construction is good. I had a fruitful meeting with Mayor [Ignazio] Marino. So far the feedback about our project is only positive.

“Having the fans close to the field is the main reason of our project and it could become the number one stadium in the whole of Europe.” he concluded.

Pallotta became President of Roma in 2012 and is the 23rd in the club’s history.
