Sampdoria midfielder Angelo Palombo expressed regret on his side’s 5-1 loss to Torino in Sunday’s Serie A match at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin.

The Blucerchiati could only grab a consolation goal by Pedro Obiang as Fabio Quagliarella netted a hat-trick to help Torino to their third straight Serie A victory.

“We were expecting more, honestly,” said Palombo to the press.

“The match was ugly, also difficult to comment on, we were practically never in the game.”

Palombo continued with due credit to an impressive performance by the Granata and with comments on Sampdoria’s fifth place position in the league table.

“Surely it is about the Torino’s strength, but today it is more our demerit,” he said. “It is true that at the beginning of the season no one expected to stay where we are, but now since have we want to go for it all.

“We know our limits and we have to be smart and limit to play more on our strengths.

“Today I would say that it was a game to throw in the trash and I’m absolutely ashamed.”
