Catania and Crotone drew 1-1 at the Stadio Angelo Massimino on Monday night in Serie B.

The visitors took an early lead through Ernesto Torregrossa but were pegged back in injury time by Lucas Castro to give Catania a draw against a ten man Crotone.

The Rossoblu nearly netted earlier than they did when Sergio Suciu tried his luck from range but his shot swerved wide of goal.

It didn’t take the away side much longer to take the lead though. A corner was whipped, which the Catania defence had trouble dealing with, and Torregrossa was first to react to sweep the ball into the bottom corner.

The Elefanti should have equalised moments later when as the ball was pulled back to Daniele Sciaudone, but from close range and in plenty of space he could only blast it at the crossbar.

The hosts were growing into the game after a slow start and veteran Alessandro Rosina blew his effort from range, dragging it yards wide.

Sciaudone had another great chance as he received the ball on the edge of the box, but placed his shot inches past the post.

Catania hit the woodwork for the second time of the match when new signing Riccardo Maniero headed onto the crossbar and over.

Halfway through the second half, Raffaele Maiello ran through the centre of the Catania defence but his lob over the goalkeeper went over the bar, wasting a chance of making it two for the Rossoblu.

In a terribly uneventful second half, the visitors were reduced to ten men in injury time as Suciu received his second yellow for a late tackle.

Then, in the second minute of injury time substitute Castro rose highest from a corner to guide a header into the bottom corner in off the post and rescue a point for Catania.

This means that Crotone stay bottom of the table, whilst Catania stay in 19th position.
