There were seven goals scored at the Stadio Armando Picchi on Saturday afternoon as Livorno thrashed Bari 5-2 in Serie B.

Goals from Andrea Luci, Daniele Vantaggiato and Maicon put the home side 3-0 in front before an own goal Luci and a strike from Francesco Caputo brought it back to 3-2.

Then, late goals from Luca Siligardi and Vantaggiato put the game out of doubt for the Amaranto, sealing a 5-2 victory.

The home side were 1-0 up in the opening five minutes as Luci met a corner and seemed to intentionally volley the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box, magnificently.

It was two five minutes later for Livorno, when Vantaggiato bundled the ball in from virtually on the goal line as Alessandro Bernardini fired in a low cross.

Bari nearly pulled one back as Niccolo Bellomo showed great skill to flick the ball up, turn and volley the ball from outside the box just wide of goal.

Luci was close to his second when he struck from outside the box, which should have been dealt with comfortably by Antonio Donnarumma but the goalkeeper let it slither onto the post, and the hosts went into the break with a 2-0 lead.

The Biancorossi came close to grabbing a goal back at the start of the second half and it was Bellomo again. The youngster whipped in a curling cross which beat everyone except Luca Mazzoni who pulled off a fantastic save to tip it round the post.

Luca Siligardi then went close with a free-kick from a tight angle which was well saved by Donnarumma.

It was three soon after as a cross was sent into the box which met the head of Maicon, who glanced his header into the bottom corner.

The Amaranto were rampant and if it wasn’t for Donnarumma they’d have easily have had four goals as the shot-stopped denied three attempts within minutes.

Ten minutes from time, Bari did get a consolation goal and it was very lucky. Caputo raced in on goal but was stopped by a Luci slide-tackle and the ball trickled past Mazzoni and in.

The visitors pulled another back immediately from the restart as Caputo volleyed from just outside the box and into the bottom corner.

It was game over though in the last minute though as Siligardi smashed it in off the bar from around the penalty spot.

Livorno added another in injury time to make it a rout at the Stadio Armando Picchi as Vantaggiato got his second of the game, placing the ball into the bottom corner from outside the box.

The game ended there at 5-2 which meant that Livorno stayed in third place, reducing the gap from Carpi at the top to 10. Bari also remained in 15th place.

Elsewhere, Bologna defeated Crotone 2-0 to keep them in second place, six points behind Carpi.

A goal from Karim Laribi in each half claimed the three points for Bologna, but their opponents also missed a penalty in the 73rd minute taken by Ernesto Torregrossa.

Frosinone kept up their chase for the automatic promotion spots by edging Virtus Lanciano 2-1.

Gaetano Monachello put Lanciano in front in the opening ten minutes and they stayed in front at the break.

The Canarini turned it on its head in the second half through goals from Luca Paganini and Paolo Sammarco.

Avellino moved into fourth position as they defeated Latina 1-0 who are joint bottom with Crotone.

The Lupi had a player sent off in the 62nd minute as Marco Chiosa was dismissed. Ten minutes later though they took the lead through their talisman Luigi Castaldo.

To add insult to injury Latina were also reduced to ten men as Nnamdi Oduamadi was shown a straight red card.

An Andrea Cocco inspired Vicenza thrashed Perugia 3-1 at the Stadio Romeo Menti.

The visitors took the lead in the first half through Davide Lanzafame, but an onslaught was to follow in the second half.

Andrea Cocco grabbed himself a hat-trick to record an impressive victory for his side, who are now in 6th place.

Virtus Entella registered a surprise 2-0 win over promotion chasers Spezia to lift them out off the pay-out positions.

The game was 0-0 until the 76th minute as Ferdinando Sforzini netted, and he grabbed another in the in the final minutes to put the game out of sight.

There were also two draws as Pescara drew 1-1 with Cittadella and Varese drew 1-1 with Pro Vercelli.

Pescara denied Citta a 1-0 win as Birkir Bjarnason scored in the 95th minute to cancel out Francesco Stanco’s opener for Citta.

Pro Vercelli took a 1-0 lead away at Varese as Ettore Marchi scored on the hour mark – but then got sent off four minutes later.
