Inter and Fiorentina secured comfortable victories to stamp their tickets to the semi-finals of the Viareggio Cup, while Roma and Hellas Verona left things late before joining their Serie A brethren in the final four.

The Giallorossi had to wait until the 93rd minute of play to secure their progression to the next round, as Slovak forward Tomas Vestenicky scored deep in the heart of injury time to seal a hard fought 2-1 victory over Atalanta.

They will square off against Inter who defeated Pescara by a 3-1 scoreline. Federico Bonazzoli opened the scoring after two minutes, before Andrea Palazzi extended the lead to 2-0.

A Moreira Barbosa penalty reopened proceedings in the 63rd minute, however Bonazzoli’s brace in injury time ensure progression for the Nerazzurri.

On the other half of the draw Fiorentina steamrolled over Spezia 3-0 with goals from Simone Minelli, Federico Chiesa and Marko Dabro.

The Viola will meet Hellas Verona who once again relied on the lottery that is penalties to progress through to the next round.

The Gialloblu and Napoli battled to a 0-0 draw, forcing both teams to the penalty spot where Verona held their nerve to win 3-2.

The semi-finals will see Roma square off against Inter with Fiorentina and Hellas Verona completing the other side of the bracket. Both matches will take place on Saturday February 14.
