Inter and Hellas Verona will battle in the final of the 2015 Viareggio Cup after dispatching of Roma and Fiorentina respectively in the semi-finals.

The Nerazzurri steamrolled over Roma 4-0 at the Stadio Torquato Bresciani on a waterlogged pitch in a match that saw the Giallorossi hit the self-destruct button.

Demetrio Steffe opened the scoring after 28 minutes, but things were made easier for the Biscione in the 62nd minute when Riccardo Marchizza was shown a red card for a foul on Samuel Darko Appiah in the penalty area.

Federico Bonazzoli fired home the resulting penalty before Appiah found the back of the net to make the scoreline 3-0 after 69 minutes.

The Giallorossi, with their tournament hopes dashed, amazingly had Edoardo Soleri and goalkeeper Ionut Pop sent off to finish the match with eight players. Pop’s red resulted in yet another penalty for Inter, which Appiah fired home to round out the 4-0 scoreline.

The other encounter saw Hellas Verona defeat Fiorentina 2-1 in what was a tight encounter.

The Viola took the lead after eight minutes thanks to a right footed effort from Simone Minelli. However the advantage was short lived as Mohamed Fares skipped past goalkeeper Gianluca Mancini before firing past Lorenzo Bardini to equalize for the Gialloblu.

Less than five minutes later Verona would take the lead when Nicolo Gigli was sent off for a last man foul on Pierluigi Cappeluzzo, with the Mastini striker scoring on the resulting penalty.

Verona midfielder Mame Fily Sall would also be shown red in the second half to open the door for the Viola, but they were unable to find an equalizer allowing the Mastini to progress to their first final.

Thus the Arena Garibaldi-Romeo Anconetani in Pisa will play host to Inter and Verona in the final of the 2015 Viareggio Cup on Monday February 16 at 15:00 CET.
