Giampiero Ventura is the latest candidate being linked with the AC Milan job, while a former player is touted for a surprise Serie A return.

Torino coach Ventura has joined a burgeoning hit-list comprising of Maurizio Sarri, Eusebio Di Francesco and Vincenzo Montella, with current boss Filippo Inzaghi’s position coming under increasing scrutiny.

Reports found within the pages of La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that Empoli’s highly-rated coach Sarri remains the Rossoneri’s top target, but also that the veteran Toro tactician’s credentials for the role are gaining popularity within the corridors of power at the San Siro.

Additionally, Tuttosport are running a story which implies that AC Milan won’t complete a permanent deal for loan star Mattia Destro from Roma, and will instead attempt to bring former favourite Zlatan Ibrahimovic back for a second spell at the club.

Destro would command a figure of €16 million if a switch were to be pushed through, with the Turin-based newspaper suggesting those funds may be better spent on the controversial Swedish striker following his well-documented recent troubles in France at Paris Saint-Germain.
