Fiorentina head coach Vincenzo Montella is top of AC Milan’s wanted list to replace Filippo Inzaghi at the end of the season.
The Viola are enjoying a fine campaign under former Italian international Montella in comparison with the stuttering Rossoneri, as five places and eight points currently separate the two sides in the Serie A standings.
According to La Repubblica, the Milan hierarchy seem set to jettison Inzaghi this summer and have already earmarked the 40-year-old Fiorentina boss as their number one target.
It’s believed owner Silvio Berlusconi is a particular fan of Montella’s playing style and is ready to offer him €2 million per year to take over at the San Siro.
Fiorentina will hope such speculation won’t have a detrimental effect on the team ahead of their Coppa Italia semi-final first-leg encounter away at Juventus on Thursday evening.
