Juventus director Beppe Marotta has spoken of the club’s coaching change at the start of the season, admitting it could have become a very difficult situation replacing Antonio Conte with former AC Milan tactician Massimiliano Allegri.

The Bianconeri lost Conte to the Italian national side, but the current league leaders look set for another Serie A title as they sit 14 points clear of second placed Roma.

“We knew there was a danger with the change, with potential discontent from both fans and those in the media,” he told the Corriere della Sera. “However, we picked the best replacement available at the time and we have supported him.”

“With Conte gone we needed new motivation. If you give your coach the right conditions to work he will give you his best and Allegri is certainly doing that.

“He is the best.”

Allegri looks set to win the Scudetto at the first attempt as well as having guided his team into the quarter finals of the Champions League, where his side face Ligue 1 giants Monaco.
