Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez was once close to a move to Inter, according to club legend Luis Figo.
The retired Portuguese refers to a time prior to Sanchez’s big-money switch to Barcelona, but says that he personally tried to convince the Chilean to join the Nerazzurri.
“I remember Alexis, I tried to take him to Inter when I was a coach at the club,” confirmed the former Barcelona and Real Madrid midfielder to Radio Cooperativa.
“Sanchez and Arturo Vidal are the two columns of the Chile team,” Figo also commented, praising the influence of the current Juventus enforcer.
26-year-old Sanchez first attracted interest from Europe’s giants after impressing for Serie A outfit Udinese, and made the €34 million move to Barcelona despite Figo’s intervention.
A €48 million switch to English Premier League side Arsenal followed last summer, where he has hit 19 goals in all competitions thus far.
