Davide Astori RomaOn-loan Roma defender Davide Astori hopes he can do enough to make his temporary stay in the capital into a permanent one.

The 28-year-old Italian international is on loan from Cagliari until the end of the season, and the Giallorossi have the option to make it a permanent move for a fee of €5 million.

Astori has featured 16 times in all competitions for Roma so far, and has performed admirably in the absence of Leandro Castan, who suffered a season-ending injury earlier in the campaign.

“I want to reassure everyone: I will give my best for this shirt,” Astori told Sky Sport Italia.

“I want to stay at Roma, and I know that 99% of players would love to be in my position. I want to prove I’m capable of wearing this jersey.

“Juventus out of reach? The Bianconeri have always been human, we’ve showed that. We gave them a huge scare in both games.

“We have the second best defence in the league, even if we have conceded some naive goals.”
