Atletico Madrid midfielder Mario Suarez has confirmed he held talks with Inter boss Roberto Mancini in January about a possible move to the Serie A.
The 28-year-old Spanish international has been linked with a move to the Serie since last summer, but admits that current boss Diego Simeone convinced him to stay at the club until the summer at least.
“It’s true, I could’ve left in the summer, but the coach held onto me,” Suarez told Onda Cero.
“In January I also talked to Mancini at a time when I thought the coach would let me leave.
“We brought the offer to the club, but in the end he changed his mind. They have promised me many things when I could’ve left, and they have stuck by that.
