Fiorentina midfielder Milan Badelj has revealed that he hopes to remain with the Gigliati for as long as possible.

The 26-year-old, who arrived at the Viola from Hamburg before the start of the 2014-15 campaign, has made 12 Serie A appearances this term thus far and he admits that he’s been loving every minute of his time in Italy, confirming that he’s now almost fully accustomed to Italian football.

Badelj spoke to the press while on international duty with Croatia about his positive experience at Fiorentina this season and commented on his mission to make a name for himself in his country’s national team.

“I feel much better at Fiorentina now than I did when I first arrived,” said the Croatian.

“I love Italy and I’m very well suited to the style of play here. I hope to play in Florence for as long as possible.

“Our next Europa League challenge? We still have quite some time before we worry about that. I’m honestly not thinking about it right now but I will when the time is right.

“The national team? I’m available to the coach and I want to fight for a starting position in the team.

“I’m honoured to represent my country and I know how much competition there is in the midfield.”
