Barcelona could make a surprising move for Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez.

The Catalan giants are already making arrangements for when their transfer embargo is lifted in January 2016, and striking reinforcements are reportedly high on their list of priorities.

Mario Gomez and fellow Serie A hitman Fernando Llorente are both being considered, while Premier League pairing Graziano Pelle and Edin Dzeko are other alternatives, Sport reports.

29-year-old Gomez excelled for former club Bayern Munich, where he hit 75 goals from 115 league appearances, but his time in Italy has been plagued by injury problems and an unimpressive goalscoring record.

While Barcelona have Lionel Messi, Neymar, Luis Suarez and Pedro all adding to the attacking line, a player of serious aerial threat such as Gomez is reportedly being sought after.

Germany star Gomez joined the Viola for a fee of around €20 million in 2013.
