Italy defender Leonardo Bonucci has pointed out that the Azzurri’s future is bright despite its present struggles.
Italy drew England 1-1 Tuesday evening in a friendly match, on the back of another 2-2 draw to Bulgaria in the Euro 2016 qualifying stage.
However, despite the rather disappointing form of the team at the moment, Bonucci still sees positives from the game and calcio in general.
“It was an intense game,” the centre back told Rai Sport. “We showed that with work and sacrifice we can do great things.
“Unfortunately we were not able to hold on to the lead until the very end, but we will definitely improve with time.
“[Bulgaria] have so many interesting young talents that are playing at this world stage. In [Italy], instead, young men are struggling to find space in the first team in Serie A.
“However, I am sure that one day these young prospects will be able to raise the standards of Italian football again.”
