A group of Canadian investors are interested in buying bottom of table Serie A club Parma from owner Giampietro Manenti.

The Ducali were a surprise team in the 2013/14 season, managing to clinch the last Europa League spot, but in a cruel twist of events did not meet eligibility to play due to tax complications and financial insecurity.

Unfortunately, the team have yet to resolve their financial struggles, and was recently bailed out on a €5 million package that would see them have enough to make it through the end of the current campaign.

However, Sky Sport Italia are reporting that a group of Canadian investors are keeping tabs on the situation and could swoop in for a potential deal to buy out the club.

The Alberta Investment Management Corporation has been linked to a takeover, with plans to save the club from dissolution and restart the club from Serie B next season.

Elsewhere, Teleducato reports that the Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment company is also looking to cash in on the club. The company have experience in this department, as they currently own MLS team Toronto FC.
