Former Sampdoria, Real Madrid, Roma and Italy striker Antonio Cassano admitted that he is struggling to get used to life away from football after his contract at Parma was terminated in January.

The free agent is currently on holiday in the Maldives with his wife Carolina Marcialis.

“I miss the dressing rooms, the training sessions and messing around with team-mates from morning until evening,” said Cassano to Chi.

“Most of all, I miss the adrenaline rush of matches. But, things had to go that way.

“Now I can enjoy some time spent with my family in peace.

“Carolina and I have been married for five years and this has been the first holiday we have gone on without our children.”

Cassano admitted that he does want to return to playing although he turned down an offer from his local club Bari.

“I said no to Bari’s proposal for family reasons.”

He added: “I would still like to play, but in the future I’d like to work in the role of a technical director, helping with the relations between the squad and the club.

“Few players would be able to mess around with me because I’d recognise what they’re up to immediately as I know all the tricks.”
