Lazio midfielder Danilo Cataldi has said that the 3-0 win against Sassuolo was vital for the Biancocelesti’s push for a spot in Europe next season.

The 20-year-old has recently become a regular in Stefano Pioli’s squad and he also pointed out that shock defeats against Empoli and Cesena have been important learning experiences for him and his teammates.

“These three points will project us in the European qualification zone. The lessons of Empoli and Cesena have taught us a lot,” Cataldi told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I am happy for the continuity that Pioli has given me and I want to give my congratulations to the boys in the Primavera for the [3-0] victory in the derby.”

Lazio play Napoli in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday and then Fiorentina in Serie A on Monday, which according to Cataldi will test the quality of the Biancocelesti.

“They are two decisive challenges because the Coppa Italia is an objective of ours and then we will have a direct opponent for the championship. We will test our progress,” Cataldi concluded.
