Parma city mayor Federico Pizzarotti has blasted Giampietro Manenti’s management of the club, stating that the council is looking for a new owner.

Parma have had their last two games against Genoa and Udinese postponed due to lack of funds, with several reports stating that the club is nearing financial failure, and Pizzarotti has assured that the local council has taken steps to remove the president.

“Given the reception to Manenti [from the fans] on Friday the issue does not seem merely economic, but overall.” The 41-year-old told Sky Sport.

The club has failed to pay its player’s wages since July and whilst Manenti has promised payments this week, Pizzarotti has said it will not be enough to secure the president’s stay.

“Even if several million [Euros] arrived today, his credibility and the affection of the fans towards him seems to have failed hopelessly,” he said.

The Crociati have been in financial trouble since last season when they were unable to participate in the Europa League despite qualifying, due to financial reasons.

The local council is pressing for the continuation of the club with the promise of finding a new buyer for the team.

The team’s stadium, Stadio Ennio Tardini could also be sold or leased, in order to help the club recover.
