Conte forced into goalkeeping changes ahead of Italy qualifier

perinItalian national team coach Antonio Conte has called up Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti as Genoa’ Mattia Perin has been forced to withdraw from the squad due to injury.

The 22-year-old suffered a shoulder injury in the Grifone’s 1-0 defeat to league leaders Juventus and he will now miss both of the Azzurri’s upcoming fixtures against Bulgaria and England.

Sky Sport Italia have revealed the details of Perin’s immediate withdrawal as well as Conte’s decision to include the in-form Marchetti.

The 32-year-old has impressed for the Biancocelesti this season and has kept a clean sheet in each of his last three Serie A matches..

Since his international debut in 2009 he has made 11 appearances for Italy, his last performance coming against Armenia in 2013.

Conte’s side will take on Bulgaria on March 28 in a qualifier for the forthcoming European Championships as well as an international friendly against England on March 31.
