Italy coach Antonio Conte has admitted he is disappointed with the draw against Bulgaria, stating he believes the Azzurri deserved victory based on the amount of chances they created.
The Azzurri salvaged a late draw in Sofia despite dominating the game for long spells, and Conte was admittedly let down by the final result but not by the performance of his players.
“It is a shame, we definitely deserved to win as the guys created so much,” the tactician told Rai Sport following the game.
“It has historically been a difficult place for Italy to play, but we created a lot.
“I am happy with the team, we were punished twice but we had so many chances to score and we did the bare minimum.”
The result has seen the Azzurri maintain second place in Group H behind Croatia in their bid to reach Euro 2016, although they now trail the group leaders by two points after five games.
